Philtre d'Amour 1999

Philtre d'Amour: (Love Potion) Launched on Valentine's Day 1999, Philtre D'Amour is a potion that celebrates love without clouds. For the eternal love, Jean-Paul Guerlain wanted a perfume that is the symbol of the merger of two lovers. Love shy, bashful, whimsical, each al'art and how to talk about love.

Fragrance Composition:



So what does it smell like? It is classified as a citrusy chypre fragrance for women with soft, powdery base notes.
  • Top notes: mandarin, lemon, bergamot, neroli, petitgrain 
  • Middle notes: lily, carnation, jasmine, myrtle, iris, geranium, coriander, verbena, rose 
  • Base notes: sandalwood, musk, patchouli,, amber, oakmoss 


Bottle:

Presented in a vial shaped 30ml flacon, decorated with gilded scrolling and a gilded thread wrapped around the neck of the bottle. The fragrance was originally launched as an eau de toilette. A scented candle was also given away as a gift to VIP patrons.



Fate of the Fragrance:

Discontinued in c1999.

In 2000, The perfume was re-issued of the original as part of the' Les Parisiennes' collection (available only at the Guerlain flagship store in Paris), it was discontinued in 2004.




But the fragrance was released again, but as an eau de parfum in 2005 as part of the Les Parisiennes collection. It was discontinued in 2009.
